I come from the fields. Not from a boardroom, not from a corporate background — but from a small village, where farming is not a business, it’s our life.
But let me tell you something I’ve learned through this journey:
Just growing crops is not enough anymore.
In this century, farming is not only about “what you grow,”
It’s about how you grow, what quality you grow, and how you sell it.
My Honest Advice to Every Farmer
If you have small land, don’t waste your entire life waiting for high returns from just growing.
Explore value addition — make powders, teas, oils, pickles — increase your income per kilo.Join an FPO or form a group of nearby farmers — unity gives power. You can negotiate better prices, share costs, and get more benefits from government schemes.
Don’t fall into the trap of loans and isolation.
Suicide is never the answer.
When you take that step, you don’t end pain — you pass it to your family.There are many ways to repay your debts. Selling smartly, processing your crop, shifting to organic, or joining cooperative models can change your story.
Connect with government departments. Learn how to use schemes for machinery, processing, marketing, and export. Don’t ignore what belongs to you.
And above all, remember:
If you build your own chain — from farm to market —
You will win this race.
